The DeLonghi Lattissima EN680 Review
The The DeLonghi Lattissima EN680 creates an espresso that is certainly a lot more than adequate. However in spite of having a special device to take the trouble from producing steamed milk and foam, its cappuccinos are decidedly average.
The device will take Nespresso capsules only (see Using coffee in an espresso machine) – certainly not loose ground coffee or pods. It’s got a milk carrier, to make cappuccinos and lattes, which may be put into the refrigerator when not being used. Both the coffee capsules and milk container help to keep the espresso-making procedure mess-free.
The DeLonghi Lattissima will take under 15 seconds to produce a good espresso and, as it is completely automated, the machine ceases making coffee at precisely 30ml. The actual temperature of the espresso is among the coolest on test, but remains to be above the limit of 140°F/60°C.
The directions are relatively obvious, and are also illustrated with pictures instead of diagrams.
The machine is actually simple enough to set up and operate. The trickiest thing is filling up the water container, because it is basically a deep dish. For those who have unstable hands and wrists then it may be better to fill it using a jug instead of carrying it to a faucet.
The drip tray can be pressed inside the equipment to create space for a latte glass.
The Lattissima is available in silver and white.
Positive Points: Milk container for simple steamed milk and foam, uncomplicated instructions
Negative Points: Regular tasting cappuccino
